The finish is nice. The head tenon came with a considerably smaller diameter than the body, so the fit is not tight. I used several turns of teflon tape to adjust it properly, and then clear tape on the outside to strengthen the joint. After these adjustments it plays well. (I also covered the first hole closest to the head, the "mo kong", between the embouchure and the finger holes, with clear tape instead of dimo, but dimo strips are included in the shipment.) The flute is in D, but goes down to A4. With only the left hand fingers down, it plays D5, and one may easily cover 2 octaves.
