Have not tried the unit yet, but what I received is actually the RpLidar A1 Development Kit, which DOES include the USB converter so it can be directly attached to PC on arrival.

The product is very nicely packed, and arrived unscathed. Was able to build it in 2-3 hours. The biggest issue is slight warping on 3D-printed bearing mounts under the bed, which makes it hard to adjust to smooth running, but it is possible with some perseverance, so the issue is not really important. After this, the machine feels very solid, with no discernable play anywhere. Backlash nuts are used on all 3 axes. However, the spindle motor is quite slow, and has no speed control - this is a possible first upgrade. There is also no information on the PCB, especially for how to fit a Z probe - it seems it may need some soldering direct to a pin on the MCU for this. There are 10 engraving V bits included, and I was able to cut plywood to 5mm deep without any problem so far (just in the first few hours of testing). The Z axis comes pre-installed with quite a nice ER11 collet mount and a single collet, so a good accessory is an ER11 collet set, as well as some proper milling bits. The GRBL Control software is nice to use, but the machine has no provided CAD/CAM software for generating GCode.

Eddie No, "counterfeit" is when you buy jeans with a Levi's logo on but they were not made by Levi Strauss & Co. If you buy jeans with a Guess logo on, they are not "counterfeit Levi's", they are just a different brand of jeans.

I wouldn't call them super loud, don't expect smoke alarm type volumes, but they're loud for their size and can be heard over most noise levels e.g. in the street.

Fits securely, lenses are easy to change but nice and tight once fitted, can focus on work from several inches away, great for SMD soldering!

With the 125 keys you get about 60 different shapes and about two of each. Lots of really cool designs - hearts, moons, pirate stuff, etc. The kids enjoyed sorting through them, and they are perfect for charms.
