I literally had to hold my phone up to the screen running Google Translate to get things started as it comes with a Chinese only menu and instructions. I managed to upgrade the firmware using the MiHome app. First, you need to connect to the Mainland server (the top server in the list sometimes written in Chinese), the US servers don't have this camera as a product and can't be added. Then manually add the camera by finding the corresponding picture in the list (it's the only black camera with the lense on the right side). Start the Wifi on the camera (pull down on the screen and tap the wifi symbol and connection info shows on screen). Some newer Android devices may need to disable their mobile data because of a known issue with Android OS. Once connected, disconnect and connect your phone back to your home wifi and you should be prompted to download the updated software (I'm not 100% sure about this, I downloaded over mobile while still connected to the camera Wifi). Download it, connect again to the camera's Wifi and you should be prompted to upload the update firmware. Go through the settings and change the language to English (again, I had to use Google Translate in Camera mode and point it at the screen to find that item, but it does say "English" in the submenu so you can also find it by poking around. I'll still give this 5 stars, if the above instructions seem daunting, it's not right for you (yet, I'm sure it will become easier as the developers improve the process). I've purchased inexpensive action cams before and hated them. This one is actually quite great for the price.
