Q: Does the printer come with filament?

BG104853171 yes it does, but only a small amount of maybe 20 meters (mine came bright yellow)

Q: How old is the firmware and do I have to do any updates to the 3D printer?

BG104853171 printer Came with Marlin 2.0.5, you can just update it to 2.0.8 (latest) if you want, but atm there is no real need, unless you need fw changes due to hardware upgrades
