Q: Is the output connector a 5.5 x 2.5? I see a picture with a TS 100 soldering iron connected witch has a 5.5 x 2.5 plug.

JunglePig Yes. The one I received last month in the US has a 5.5x2.5mm plug.

Q: is this compiatable for laptop

JunglePig I wouldn't recommend it. The voltage is adjusted by a potentiometer with no facility for locking it at a specific voltage. Many laptops like a 19.1V supply. If you inadvertently adjusted it up to 24V there is the potential (LOL) to damage your laptop.
