So I got this for Christmas 2020, and I was really excited to use it. Before using it though I had to adjust some of the toe in on the front wheel as it was not adjusted properly. Took about 5 minutes in total so no big deal. Next I went to charge the battery up, but no luck because the 3 cell lipo that came with it had a dead cell. Got in touch with customer service and they eventually refunded me the cost of the battery, I wasn't too worried because I was always going to use other batteries instead. Used it for the first time and overall I was quite impressed with its overall power and top speed. Had to adjust the camber for one of the rear wheels though as out of the box it was way off, but again no big deal as it took me 5 minutes. On the second run I went to drive up a gutter head on at a standing start but the car did a backflip and landed on the bonnet of the body shell. Unfortunately given how incredibly weak the shell is it cracked where it sits on the body posts. So I went inside and spent an hour with drywall tape and some flexible silicone to fix and strengthen it. Overall this is a great car but could do with some improvements; firstly the body shell needs to be a lot stronger as if you look at it the wrong way it will break, the diffs need to have thicker grease or oil in them as they are very "open" from the box and lastly the servo could do with an upgrade from 15kg to say 25kg (which I am yet to put in) as when you reverse the wheels wobble uncontrollably. I would definitely recommend using this off road only as the wheels wobble quite a bit on road and is a bit rough, it's just like driving my off road car with 37' Maxxis Trepadors to be honest 😂. This car represents good value but be prepared to make some modifications and upgrades.

Q: Is electrical parts waterproof? (esc and motor)

demandé par mtechs sur 2021-09-04 04:51:13

Arrmafan I've used mine I'm the snow and when I say snow I mean the whole car, including the electrics were completely covered on the stuff and it was fine. However I wouldn't trust the ESC to be submerged, nor the motor. If you run it in the rain you'll be fine, just be sure to properly dry it when finished. On a side note, I sold my truck pretty quickly as it kept breaking quite easily as the plastic is made of glass. I would go for the JLB Cheetah instead which is almost indestructible compared to the Pirates Truck. I used my JLB Cheetah at a BMX track and it took a load of abuse before breaking some small and cheap parts.

Arrmafan 1. Yes, you are correct about the 3 Rx per tx. There will be no interference at all. 2. I'm not 100 percent sure if you can set it from 0-100%. 3. You can set the throttle 'power' from 0-100 which is great if you want to let s younger kids use the cars. 4. You can adjust the steering rate from 0-100 as well, I usually leave mine at 75 as more than that tends to want to force the servo turn more than the car will allow. 5. In terms of the brakes, this is usually set on the ESC itself. I usually have mine set from 50-75 depending on the car. I kept front flipping my EXB Kraton because the brakes were too much so bare this in mind.

Q: will it fit a kraton 6s v5 1:8 scale?

demandé par RainChrysler sur 2021-11-09 09:31:50

Arrmafan Yes mate, I've used one in my 1:8 Kraton EXB. You will absolutely love it as it is very powerful and fast, go for it 👍

Betto404 yes, this can work with v1 kraton 8s, you'll need to upgrade to a 1 5th scale servo adapter to your receiver box.

Arrmafan I'd check the sizing first, and how big are the wheels you'll be pushing with this servo. Always use a slightly stronger servo than you need, that way you can't go wrong.

Q: is it water proof

demandé par BG533216542 sur 2021-10-17 03:44:19

Arrmafan The receiver itself should be put into a waterproof receiver box if it will be getting very wet. I've used several in the snow and they've been covered with plenty of it and still worked but to be safe use a box 👍.

Q: how fast does it go

demandé par BG190836348 sur 2021-10-08 03:34:53

Arrmafan If you use the standard ESC and motor the RTR comes with and you use a half decent 3cell lipo mine hit 53mph and it hadn't quite reached top speed.

Overall I absolutely love this car, I recently purchased the other version with the different body and wanted to try this one out as I liked the look of it. I purchased this kit version as I had a spare Dumbo RC transmitter/receiver, JLB motor and Hobbywing SC8 120A ESC. It was easy to put together and get up and running which I liked. The performance is very good, having plenty of acceleration and top speed. It's slightly faster than the other version of the JLB Cheetah due to the larger wheels. However due to the larger wheels and the fact they're very grippy on the abandoned runway I was using it on, when turning even at low speeds it would dig in and flip over. After flipping it 5 times in as many minutes I decided to run it off road only which in fairness is what it's designed for. I used it for driving up steep and very rocky hills and to my amazement it did it so incredibly easily much to my amusement. Today I decided to put some smaller on road wheels on to run it in the snow to drift and what have you, unfortunately I broke the chassis where it connects to a control link as seen in the photo. I made contact with a gutter right on the rear wheel quite softly in my opinion. I think the fact it was -1 and was covered in snow probably made the chassis weaker than normal, as my other JLB Cheetah has been slammed into gutters harder without even a scratch. I have ordered a new chassis for the tiny amount of 9GBP delivered so it's no big deal really, but would be nice if that part was stronger.
