It’s good value for the price, but keep your expectations reasonable. There is no spring suspension like some others; the power switch is not wired up (and soldering it will be a bit of a challenge due to tight space); and the motors run at different speeds due to construction irregularities and you will have to compensate with your motor driver. On the plus side: the overall size is good so you can use it as a base for a larger robot or tank or robot tank, the motors seem strong, and it feels solid enough to carry some decent payload.

Professor99 Use the Parola library for driving this device (which you probably are already doing). Get the latest version because it’s easier to fix this problem with the latest version. Then follow the advice of ATHIELEN in the review of the 1 piece MAX7219 product. He says to download the “https://github.com/MajicDesigns/MD_MAX72XX” library into your Arduino IDE. Open the “MD_MAX72xx_Test” located under Examples. Change line number 25 from “#define HARDWARE_TYPE MD_MAX72XX::PAROLA_HW” info “#define HARDWARE_TYPE MD_MAX72XX::FC16_HW”. You can read the explanation of the different hardware setups in file “MD_MAX72XX_lib.h” located in the library. Do not make any changes to “MD_MAX72XX.h” in this latest version (which is the fix for earlier versions of Parola).

Product arrived quickly and undamaged. I tested all three and they work fine. Note that they come with the Lithium batteries as they should. All good!

Ordered 3 of these; tried one and it works nicely. Don’t know how much current I can put through it but it worked great for my project.

The picture shows small crystal clear LEDs but the ones I received are larger cloudy LEDs. They cover most of the circles that you see around the LEDs in the picture. However, the LEDs that I received look more like real traffic lights so that is not a problem. In addition, the specifications say that these are 5v LEDs. However, I tested them with 3 volts and they were bright, so I suspect that 5 volts would destroy the LEDs. So I am using them with about a 90 ohm resistor in my Arduino project and they work great.

Professor99 No batteries come with it; you need to order 2 of the 18650 batteries recommended. Ensure that they have a flat top (and bottom) so that they fit properly in the case.

I bought two of these as they are perfect in every way. Size is nice (not too small not too big) brightness is great (2 settings) functions work well price is great. Just be advised that you have to have your own 5V power brick to plug into the provided cable if you want the display to be active all the time. But if you’ve had a few cell phones that have died keep the charger adapter for the clock and away you go.
