I am pleasantly surprised by the quality. They are soft plastic which will protect the rails well. It locks into place in the slots.

On the bottom of my rifle there is a small piece of picatinny rail. This part of the rifle is resting on my hand and start to irritate after a while. By placing a piece of the handgard, the problem is solved.
